Bad habits

jumpsuit: Urban Outfitters (old) (similar, similar) | bag: Loeffler Randall borrowed from Jean (in nude, or cool grey ) | shoes: Prada (similar, similar) |  sunnies: RayBan | hat: J.Crew

I have a bad habit of seeing "potential" in ill-fitting clothes and it only gets worst as the sale season progresses. If it's on sale and cute, I can't walk away! In my head good fit is just a matter of a few seams and a couple of hours. As I discovered, this is not always true. I bought this jumpsuit over a year ago and this is my first time wearing it! I converted it from a simple sleeveless to a halter neckline with an open back (alterations that I put off due to my growing work load). One item off the list and many more to go. My fellow DIYers, do you have the same problem?

  1. Well it was worth the wait because it looks amazing! I wish I had your talent!

  2. Totally!! Especially if I'm thrifting, since I'm such an amateur sewer. Also, I love buying fabric and then it just sits! ACK!! Terrible. I bought two chiffon prints and a white rayon for two kimonos and a low-back tank, months ago, and they are still in raw form! BAH.

The jumpsuit looks AWESOME, I love how it's a halter with the low back, like you said--looks so good on you (and hello, how is the length perfect for you with flats?! SCORE).

  3. I know the feeling! And just like you, I can't help it either! These days tho, I find myself buying more and more fabric in hopes that I'll make all the outfits that I see in the store that I believe I can make myself. Unfortunately, there are only 24 hours in a day, and that doesn't seem to be enough to get things done! Lol.

Thanks for sharing though. It's a really lovely jumpsuit, and you wear it well!

  4. I used to get oversized clothes all the time especially when they were on sale, but then I'm not as savvy at tailoring as you to make it work! I like the DIY halter top you added to this!

    1. I tried altering a coat once, they're a lot of work and not worth the time! I bring all of them to my tailor now.

  5. Yes! I'm the same way and I can't even sew :( Also, I do this with shoes which is a real problem because even a good tailor can't help me there.

  9. Ahh I am the same way- especially with skirts that I can just "take-in" a bit.. ugh, never happens as quickly/easily as I'd like. I will say, however, that this is awesome! Love the patterns and how you've altered it.. it looks perfect!
