A sea of roses

top & bottom: DIY (similar bottom, similar dress) | rosette: DIY (available for purchase here) | sandals: Target (better quality here) | purse: Prada Saffiano mini (buy here or here) | bracelets: David Yurman (7mm in onyx& pearl)

I made this dress hours before we left for The Cape. It was inspired by this ahhhmazing Oscar De La Renta gown.  I went for a shorter, more casual take, rather than the full length version (a project I'm saving for another day).  Cutting and sewing the stripes on the bias was a bit time consuming but not overly difficult; it's too bad most of the details are lost within the gathers. :( If you are interested in making your own pattern, I used this tutorial.

  4. The darker pink roses are the perfect background for your pink stripe creation. You sew so well. And you've got the perfect tan.

  6. Fab job as always, Khatu. And I've been drooling over that gorgeous Oscar De La Renta gown as well. It looks pretty easy to recreate, it's just about finding the right fabric and yardage that's wide enough. :)

I've said it a million times, but if anyone can be fierce enough to wear a crop and look amazing in it, it's YOU.
