Wedding Wednesday: Engagement Photos - Part III

Welcome to part 3 of our engagement series! (You can see part 1 here & part 2 here) I know it’s not Wednesday, but bear with me, it has been quite a hectic week. (Phew, thank goodness for the long weekend ahead!) For our third look, we wanted to be in an urban environment (we’re not the frolicking-in-a random-field type of couple), so Brian and Allie took us to Downtown LA. What I love most about this location is that it is very reminiscent of NYC, particularly Broadway circa 1930’s. What I love more was seeing Brian and Allie’s enthusiasms for their work. Not too many people out there would lay down on the germ infested sidewalks to get the shots you see below in front of the door. Now that's dedication!

all photos: Callaway Gable

on her: dress: Badgley Mischka from RTR, cuff: Asos, necklace: Francesca's Boutique, Lipstick: Nars Funny Face & Dior Fantastic Plum
on him: suit: Tailored, shoes: Aldo, shirt: J.Crew, tie: Hugo Boss, pocket square: Pink (similar), tie clip: Tiff & Co. (similar)
When I rented this dress from RentTheRunway.com, I knew I was taking risk. This gold dress was absolutely amazing in person but also a pain in the butt. From reading the reviews, I knew I would have issues with the length but I was not prepared for how much work it was going to entail. The hem was an easy fix with double sided tape, the bodice, however, required a lot more labor. I came to LA prepared with a sewing kit, for this one reason and one reason alone. I temporarily took in about 1 ½ inches on each side and carefully let it out without ruining any of the sequins prior to mailing it back. In any case, if you’re thinking about using RTR for special events, I highly recommend it. The service was great and process overall was extremely easy. The fit was an issue for me (and probably will be for most petites), so just keep that in mind.

  7. The photos just keep getting better, Khatu! I love this location and your choice of attire. You can't tell at all that you had to alter it so much! I also love that you kept your hair down and effortless and prevented your look from appearing too fussy. Also, I think I might have to show David these photos in case he wants to fly to LA for our engagement photos one day... ;)

Hope you're having a great week lovely!
