Something Different

vintage fur coat, sweater: J.Crew, jacket (similar, similar) & shirt: F21, jeggings: BR, shoes: Dolce Vita, purse: Chanel M/L (similar)

Darren's mom gave me this awesome vintage fur coat over a year ago and this is my first time wearing it. As much as I tried, I can't seem to make it work with the rest of my wardrobe. I'm thinking about converting it into another vest, but I hate to ruin such a fur-tastic coat. Any thoughts?

  1. Cute ensemble! To tell you the truth, I think I'd prefer the coat as is.

  2. Hey Khatu, whatever you do don't take scissors to this absolutely breathtaking coat. I'd love to see it with gunmetal gray (or black) pencil leg trousers, a chambray shirt, and your wooden heeled YSLs. It would also look good with red skinny denim and black high heels.

  5. One of a kind coat and like the way you juxtaposed it with those boots. Would also look great with something red as well (possibly some skinnies). Until your next ensemble, stay warm!

  7. I think the coat is fabulous and you should wear it more often. I think sometimes we have things that are fabulous but maybe just don't "feel" like us. Either way you look great in it. - Rhoda

  8. Ever since I got a chinchilla, real fur gives me the heebie jeebies, but this coat is quite spectacular. I wonder how it would look with sequin?

  9. I agree, leave the coat as is.
I'd wear it more to fancy restaurant, concert, wedding, etc.... Could you show us what you have under the coat well. [KAREN J]

  12. It looks perfect just the way it is. I think you did an amazing job in styling it, too. Something like that only needs basic, classic items. The rest will fall into place.

  13. I prefer it the way it is! I think there are definitely ways to make it work... a simple colour scheme like black on black and sky-high heels for a nice dinner look, perhaps?

  16. This fur jacket looks incredible and unique. It would seem so sad to make it into a vest. Maybe you can slim the sides of the jacket instead.

  22. Hi,
I am sure you won't ruin it at all by turning it into a vest. Right now - for me- it looks a little 'last year' (sorry) and it will be much more stylish as a vest and match perfectly with the rest of your wardrobe then. Being a dressmaker myself I would take it to the furrier to get it altered in a professional way (because it's real fur). This awesome piece is really too good for just hanging in your closet. Surely you won't regret. Just keep the sleeves and maybe you'll return it into a jacket some day...
