Personal style is very subjective and not everyone has the same taste or may like the same things. For me, this blog is an outlet from my 9 to 5 job. For the past year or so, it has encouraged me to step outside of my comfort zone, experiment and take more risks with my fashion choices. Although, some of those risks were worth taking, others were not, but at least I tried.
The other day, someone left a comment saying the choices I made didn't go well together. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and constructive criticism is always welcome. However, in this instance, let's just say we agree to disagree. While you, the anonymous commentator, didn't like the look, I happen to like it a lot. And like my friend Angela would say, "Go suck a duck." :)

  1. I love your style. I think it works very well for you. That's the thing about having a sense of your own personal style ... it has to work for you. And you ace it!! It's a difference between not knowing how to dress at all and just having your own style... And you're adorable. xoxo

  3. I love this look! I really appreciate your creativity by wearing a dress as a skirt. And I wouldn't worry too much about that comment... she's just too overwhelmed by how incredibly stylish you are! ;)

  4. You have incredible style. I can't wait to see what you wear. You inspire me. People always have something negative to say because they are jealous or insecure with themselves.

  6. Personal style is what it is "personal". I for one, think your style is very intriguing, inspiring, and unique. I always look forward to reading your blog because of the signature "KhaTu" look you bring and you always rock it!! Btw, I'm not "that" anonymous :)

  10. Your style has evolved so much from when I first stumbled upon your blog...two years ago, maybe? I love the direction your personal style has taken and you've become one of the bloggers whose outfits I enjoy the most! :)

  11. Hey Khatu,

I have been an avid non-petite reader (5'7" and size 6) of your blog for about one month now.. you have been inspiring to me in your clothes combination, appreciation of flat shoes and layering. thanks to you, I have come to appreciate my current closet as a destination for mix and match, without thinking of shopping to attain a different look.
Another reason I have come to appreciate your blog is that you closet has a lot of easily available pieces, not those wish list pieces we can only hope Santa spots in his mall rounds. prove that one doesn't have to break their banks to look stylish.
lastly, you have taught me that dress down Fridays are NOT= jeans! lol, before reading your blog i think jeans were a staple for my casual Fridays but now, i do dressy dresses and the result is FRESH!

moral: you need not worry about what you do, but know that someone somewhere, far away appreciates your sense of style!

PS: I hope i do not come off stalker-ish with the appraisals ^_^

  12. I know it can be bothersome when you get that little irritating thorn in your thumb, but you just have to take it out and throw it over your shoulder. I never understood why people would leave negative comments.......and keep coming back to the blog on top of that. Ha. Obviously there's something that you bring to the table that they keep looking for, so with that being said just keep being you. Your style is fab and very original. :)

  14. Don't let it get to you sweetie!
I love how you put your looks together, granted, some of them are not very 'me', but why do we all spend so much time reading blogs and magazines anyway? To be inspired, and you definitely inspire me :) xx

  16. The funny thing is that I'm not even close to being as adventurous as you are (wish I was!) but I happened to LOVE that bow-scarf idea and instantly I had a mental pairing in my mind on how to make it work with my own style. So in short, you inspired me to try something new and negative commenters can suck it.

  21. khatu, i just recently started reading your blog and all i have to say is do what makes you happy! there`s always going to be negative people out there (mainly because they're insecure or jealous!). i love this blog already and hope that the negative comments stop!

ps, looove the necklace(s)! where are they from!

  22. Ah.. there will always be naysayers out there. I get quite a few of these comments as well and I just take it with a grain of salt. :)

  23. While I love all of your outfits and find constant inspiration from them, I ESPECIALLY loved that outfit that the rude commentator commented on. So much that I pinned it on Pinterest the day you posted it. So yes, that person can suck it.

I got a comment on my blog when I first started posting outfit photos that said "no one gives a &*$% what you wore" that really threw me off/ hurt my feelings at the time. But judging by the thousands of people who visit my blog every month, someone gives a &*$%, in fact lots t of people... So I guess you just can't let "haters" get you down :)

  30. You tell 'em, Khatu!

I happened to love that look, too. And why are the a**holes always anonymous? Really chaps my hide.

Anyway, I love this look. I just saw a cropped trench somewhere that I was contemplating scooping up. I think I might have to add it to my list (but I need to find a regular trench, first LOL).

  31. Oh Khatu- screw the haters and the ANON comments that are nothing but negative and clearly stupid. I have my share of them and I just think they have no life. If they don't like your style, then stop reading. You are one of my daily reads and LOVE everything! You are very unique and that's what I love about ya!!!

  34. On the other hand, you don't want to start discussing details about your personal life on your business blog. You have to find the right balance, and with practice you'll discover it. A good rule of thumb is: if you wouldn't say it in an email to a client, it shouldn't go up on your company's blog.
